The old saying “Save room for dessert” couldn’t be more true than on Thanksgiving when your turkey coma gives way to a pumpkin craving. Or apple pie. Or something different altogether like pumpkin cheesecake babka, gluten-free latte cake or bake-it-yourself cinnamon buns.

Thanksgiving is all about friends and family and this sweet potato pie, created from an old Southern recipe passed down to Gay Wheeler-Smith from her great-grandmother is all about both. The New Rochelle resident owns the company with her good friend Kecia Palmer-Cousins of Peekskill. Together, the two also sell sweet potato tarts and cookies (think oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip) as well as a sweet potato pie mix, all of which can be ordered online.
